Did you know “The first noel” is really an Epiphany song not a Christmas Song. It is a musical journey of the Wise Travellers and us as we get closer to their feast day.

How do you tell the Christmas story to a people who don’t have sheep, shepherds, gold, frankincense and myrrh? You include the moose, bear, rabbit, tribal chiefs. Today’s carol does just that.

I love this charming little Epiphany Carol especially on an organ which has a Zimblestern (the twinkling stars that you will hear)

Today the BELLS have their day. We have had angels, shepherds and even drummers. Now the bells ring their joyous celebration!!!!

When I play this arrangement I picture a jazz trio on stage in a basement, smoke filled, small jazz bar.
